Officials with the Countrywide Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Hawai’i Section of Land and Natural Methods and Kaua‘i County are responding to a dead palaoa, or sperm whale, that was beached at Lydgate Beach front on the jap shoreline of Kaua‘i.
The whale was to start with claimed Friday night on the reef off the beach. High tide brought it ashore Saturday early morning, in accordance to a news release from the point out Land Section.
Native Hawaiian practitioners have been conducting cultural protocols as heavy tools is attempting to shift the 56-foot, 60-ton carcass on to the seashore. Spectators are being kept back again and are asked not to cross the yellow tape throughout the continuing procedure.
